Getting Started
1. Search for and Load a Video
From the main VIEVU Solution dashboard, use the filters on the left (such as Users, Videos, or Files) to locate your desired video.
You can combine multiple filters or leave the fields blank to list all available videos.
Click Search to view the results.
Select the video from the list to open it in the Redaction window.
Tip: Use the “Page Size” dropdown to adjust how many files display per page.
Using the Redaction Tool
Adding a New Redaction
Open a video and click the Redaction icon.
Enter the Purpose (required), Comment (optional), and Case Number (optional).
Click OK to open the redaction editor.
Click the Face or Body icon to auto-detect faces or bodies.
The detected individuals appear on the right side of the screen with three control options:
A Box indicator showing the color of the redaction area.
An Eye toggle to show or hide the redaction.
A Delete option to remove the redaction.
The improved facial detection algorithm identifies smaller and more distant faces with greater accuracy.
Previewing and Selecting Time Frames
Hover over the timeline to see thumbnail previews of your video.
To redact only part of a long video:
Click the Redact Faces icon.
Enter a Start and End time for the automated redaction.
Click Redact to begin processing.
You can repeat this process for multiple time frames within the same video.
Editing and Adjusting Redactions
Click on an existing redacted copy and select Continue Redacting to resume work.
To resize or move a redaction box, click and drag its edges.
Use Keyboard Shortcuts to navigate and edit efficiently.
Example: Press the Spacebar to play or pause, press 4 to play at 2x speed, press R to start manual redaction, and press Esc to exit manual mode.
Manual Redaction
If the system misses an object or face:
Click Add Manual Redaction Object or press R.
Drag a box over the area you want to redact.
Move or resize the box as needed throughout the video.
Shortcut Tip: Press F to move forward one frame, or D to move back one frame.
Audio Redaction
To redact or mute portions of audio:
Click the Redact Audio Segment icon.
Click and drag to select the portion of the audio timeline you want to mute.
Optionally, use the Zoom controls to refine your selection or enter exact timestamps manually.
Add a Beep Tone
Open Settings.
Check Play Tone During Muted Regions.
Adjust the Volume Slider to control the tone level.
Redaction Settings
In Settings, you can:
Adjust the Transparency of redaction boxes for easier editing.
Choose a Redaction Style:
Pixelate
Mask
Smooth
Solid
Redaction styles appear in the final generated video only.
Saving and Generating Videos
Save as Draft
Click Save and select No, save as Draft to store your progress.
The system also auto-saves every 5 minutes.
Generate Final Video
Click Save and select Yes, generate video.
Once complete, the system confirms that the Redacted Video is Ready.
You can then share, copy, or delete the completed file.
